JES Engineering Contracts was started by James Edward Saul in 1982. Incorporated in 1988, Jim led the company until retiring to the peaceful valley of the Umquoa River in 1993, but not before ensuring that the company would continue to thrive under the leadership of his son, David Saul.
Dave’s time running the company saw J.E.S. grow from a small single crew outfit to a group able to meet the demands of large developments and complex projects. JES graded many streets in the large development of Ladera Ranch, stabilized its slopes and supported the development of what was one of the largest tract developments at that time. David’s memory and work left an indelible mark on the projects he help to run but also on every person he met. Unfortunately, David passed away in 2011, leaving the company to his longtime Vice President and sister, Cyndy Klausner.
Like David, Cyndy’s time leading J.E.S. was marked by continued growth and completion of a large variety of projects. Whatever the client needs, JES was ready to assist in completing the construction task or assisting in delivering the right combination to get it done.
With Cyndy’s retirement in 2023, J.E.S. has passed to the third generation of family members –now being run by Dave’s son and Cyndy’s daughter, Mitch Perkin and Brittany Fortenberry –J.E.S. continued to move forward and grow –with many of the same employees since the first day Jim started work. J.E.S. is blessed and grateful to be able to say that over half of its employees have been with us for over 10 years – and a whopping 25% over 20years.
